Oh, Yeah!
Remember a little while ago when I said that things were going to be getting busy for yours truly? Well, it’s starting to come around.
First, comic work:
One of the writers I edit will hopefully have good news soon. A couple more weeks for that.
I got an e-mail from Lee a couple of days ago, saying he really liked the pitches I sent in to him, but he didn’t have a lot of time to go into the development of them. He has a LOT of things to sell, with no real time to sell them. So, he asked me to develop them myself, and we could move forward from there. The good news is that one of the artists I was working with on the story I pitched to Lee is interested in the work. I sent him over some stuff with my thoughts and ideas, and am now just waiting to hear back from him on it. If it all looks good to him, I can work up a five page script for the intro of the book, and see what happens.
The writing gig that I was going after is in the realm of possibility. The owner/creator said that he’d hold a story for me, and would get back to me after Wondercon. Just waiting for that to come through.
One of my friends asked me to project edit him. He already has a home for the project with Markosia, and all I need to do is edit the scripts and make sure the trains run on time. His artist looked me up online, and is also happy that I’m onboard as editor. And really, as long as everyone knows where I’m coming from and is happy to have me onboard, it’s all good.
The contract for my own project, Bullet Time, is out in the mail (again). The original contracts are lost in the mail somewhere, so they had to be resent. UPS this time. Tracking numbers. It’s a great thing.
I have one more script to edit for one guy. He’s come a LONG way. I look back on the first script he sent, and the hard work he’s put in to get where he’s at now, and he should be damned proud of himself. He’s literally gotten better with each script written and each pass he’s sent in to me. The lastest script only needed two passes. I mean, really. I went over it, and it just needed some smoothing here and there. Otherwise, it was basically good to go. I’m not expecting the final script to be perfect. I don’t expect any script to be perfect–not even my own. But this guy…definitely should be proud of himself. I’ll work with him any time. And it’s not just because he’s easy to work with. He understands the changes I ask for, and usually comes back with something even better. You really can’t ask for more than that.
And Lionman? Yep. Still going strong. Just waiting for the time when I can work on that full time. I’ll have a phone meeting to attend on Thursday, which will be in my sleep cycle for work, but it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make. Things are getting close and down to the wire in certain respects, but if we’re able to pull it off, then things will be great. More than great, to tell the truth. Don’t think that it’s not without its struggles. Nothing is without struggle. This one, though, will be well worth the effort.
So, yeah. I’m about to be damned busy. And I like it.
My laptop, though, is going to be the key to success here. My friend ordered the part for it, and got it yesterday. Hopefully, it’ll be done today. Not just done, but in working order. If that happens, I’ll be ecstatic. I’ll be able to do work while at work again, which is going to increase my productivity and allow me to get sleep when I’m supposed to. I’m looking forward to that.
Other than that, things are going pretty well. I don’t have many complaints about anything. Bills are paid, there’s an easing of things in the house, we’re basically alone again, and the stress levels have gone down. Can’t really complain about that, can I?
Okay. Time for some food, and then back to work for me. Just wanted to give you an update as to what was going on.
Go watch The Wiz. I will, soon.
